The Christmas Challenge – How you can play your part.

The Christmas Challenge is our annual matched funding event. For one week only, from December 5th-9th, online donations to charities will be matched by the Big Give’s partners and the Charities’ major donors and supporters.

You can support your chosen charity during the Christmas Challenge by making an online donation to them via theBigGive.org.uk between the 5th and 9th of December.

Please read on to find out more about how you can play your part:

Online Donations

Online donations may be made to participating charities from 10am on Monday December 5th until Friday December 9th. Donations made to charities during this time will be matched by a combination of pledges donated by the charity’s major donors and the Big Give’s Philanthropist Fund.

Therefore, if you donate £25* to your charity during the Christmas Challenge Week, a further £25 will be released from the matching funds to double your donation!

To make your donation, please visit www.theBigGive.org.uk from 10am on Monday, December 5th. The site homepage will look a little different, and you will be able to search through all the participating charities from an A-Z list. Once you have found your charity, please have your credit or debit card available so that your can make your donation as quickly as possible, through our secure system.

If you would like to see a list of all the participating charities now, please click here. Remember, if you would like your donation to be doubled, don’t make it until 10 am on December 5th!

Once you have decided which charity (or charities) you would like to make your donation to, please get in contact with them directly and they will be able to give you a link to their Christmas Challenge Project Page, to ensure that you are able give your donation to the right place** and have it doubled!

* All online donations are processed by an external, HMRC approved, organisation named Charities Trust. They will take a 4% administration fee on all donations made, however, the full, original amount of the donation will be matched.

** To ensure that your donation is doubled, please make sure that it is made to the project that the charity has entered into the Christmas Challenge. Donations made to projects that are not entered into the Challenge, or to the Charity profile, will not be matched. Their Christmas Challenge Project will be clearly identifiable on their profile.
