During the initial private fundraising period 40% of charities received donations from their trustees, highlighting the power of matched funding to break down perceived fundraising barriers.

December:
In December, 70% of charities had some donors making their first ever online donation. 68% of charities found new donors making a gift and 58% received larger donations than usual.
“Not only did we receive double the donations but we also received donations from supporters who had never given previously, and some who gave extra funds in addition to their regular donation.”

The BigGive.org.uk supported 40,000 unique visitors during the Challenge week with donations peaking at 80 gifts per minute.
Over 90% of participating charities were happy with the speed of the website and the time spent resolving queries.
The requirement to enter a 3D Secure password caused confusion for some donors in December. We have now put a warning on donation pages and provided more information on the scheme.
75% of participating charities found the Challenge concept confusing. We will be simplifying the format for 2010 and providing a range of additional information and templates for fundraisers and donors.
90% of the charities who took part said they would be delighted to do so again. All charities who are currently registered on The Big Give will be invited to apply for the 2010 Challenge at the end of Spring.
