Meet the Big Give team

Sir Alec Reed, Founder of the Big Give and Chairman of the Reed Foundation

Sir Alec Reed launched theBigGive.org.uk in October 2007 and still plays a large part in the running of the organisation. A generous philanthropist and entrepreneur, Sir Alec previously founded the Reed Foundation which funds The Big Give, making it free to all users. Sir Alec is also the Founder of Reed Specialist Recruitment, one of the largest recruitment solution providers in the country with over 400 branches and reed.co.uk, Europe’s largest commercial job website.

Ashley Bowe, Managing Director

A University of Manchester Law graduate, Ashley went on to complete a Masters degree in Human Rights Law. Following his Masters degree, Ashley worked in India investigating police accountability and corruption. Joining the Big Give Give in 2009 he has been working closely on the annual Christmas Challenge, raising over £20m. Taking over as Managing Director at the end of 2010 Ashley is looking to increase the impact of the Big Give, and help even more charities.

Helen Cable, Operations Manager

Helen joined the Big Give in 2009, after graduating with a degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick. Helen runs the Big Give’s Philanthropy in Schools programme and also takes on marketing and PR responsibilities, alongside coordinating any Emergency Challenge Funds. In 2010, Helen managed the Big Give’s first Christmas Party at Fortnum & Mason, and is looking forward to repeating its success in 2011.

Ben Marshall-Corser, Web Manager

Ben is a Fine Arts graduate turned IT professional. Since graduating from UWE Bristol in 2009, Ben has worked for Gravitywell in Bristol and Lovefilm in London before joining the Big Give in September. He handles bugfixes and the development of new features for the the Big Give website and provides general IT services and support to the rest of the team. He is interested in networks and security.

Michelle Mitchell, Charity Manager

Michelle joined the Big Give in the summer of 2011 after graduating from UCL with a degree in Jewish History. As Charity Manager, Michelle handles the accounts and queries of the many charities that work with the Big Give. She also helps to develop and manage some of the Big Give’s new projects and ideas.

The Big Give Board of Philanthropists

The Big Give is proud to be supported by our Board of Philanthropists. These exceptional individuals from the private, public and charitable sectors promote the site to other high-level donors and provide invaluable feedback as users.

Please note that our supporters will not respond to unsolicited charity appeals. If charity information is well presented on The Big Give, they will contact the charity directly if they wish to discuss funding.

Reed Foundation

Reed Foundation is the charitable arm of Reed Specialist Recruitment, and distributes all of its funds through the Big Give Christmas Challenges. The Foundation also funds the day to day running of the Big Give, which makes it free for both charities and donors to use.
