The 2012 Christmas Challenge was, for the third year running, launched at the Fortnum & Mason Charity Christmas Party on Tuesday 4th December.
1,000 guests filled the store and enjoyed a ‘Dick-Whittington’ themed night complete with festive food, champagne and entertainment from top arts charities. For the first time ever, we introduced African Dancers from ACDarts to the store, alongside regular favourites including street dancers from Ignite Trust, a Peter Pan extract from RADA and music from the National Children’s Orchestra.
Guests paid £60 for a ticket and each could then donate this to the charity of their choice on the Big Give, raising thousands of pounds for an incredible range of charities. Tickets sold out online in record time again this year – this time in just 13 minutes!
A massive thank-you must go to Fortnum & Mason for their support and generosity – we hope all our guests had a fantastic time!
The 2011 Fortnum & Mason Charity Christmas Party saw 1,000 guests fill the world famous Piccadilly department store. Guests enjoyed four floors of incredible food and drink, including carved smoked salmon and champagne cocktails.
As well as the delicious food, guests were treated to a host of fabulous performances by some of the country’s leading performing arts charities including the Royal Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Circus Space, Little Angel Puppet Theatre and Voces 8.
Stephen Fry added his own unique touch by compering the evening and encouraging some wonderful festive cheer.
The evening was a fantastic success and raised an incredible £130,000, with each guest able to select which charity on theBigGive.org.uk benefited from their ticket.
A big thank you to everyone who attended, to the wonderful performers and the extremely friendly and helpful staff of Fortnum & Mason without whom the night would not have been possible.
On 2nd December, 1,000 guests and celebrities filled the store and enjoyed a magical night of champagne and canapés across all five floors.
The night’s festive entertainment was provided by top arts organisations, including the National Children’s Orchestra, Classical Opera Company and Deafinitely Theatre.
The party raised a total of £60,000, with each guest deciding which charity benefited from their ticket. Ruby Wax, who helped out at the party, said “it’s fantastic that you can decide which charity to give to, and can follow your heart.”
In 2010, the Big Give also ran a Charity Christmas Auction which raised £13,000 for six charities.
The auction featured a number of once-in-a-lifetime prizes and experiences.
These included an original illustration by Quentin Blake, tickets to see We Will Rock You and meet Brian May, a VIP weekend in Monaco and a spectacular dinner at Fortnum & Mason.
Many thanks to all bidders, and we hope the lucky winners enjoy their prizes!
